Tamure Fitness

Founded in 2019 by Moana Taio as an avenue to continue doing what she loved, Tamure Fitness was born .

Pre-covid, Moana danced as a Te Vara Nui Maiden, the main female dancer on the moving barge at the establishment. This became part of her identity for over 8 years.

As covid swept over the nation, and the boarders into the Cook Islands shut indefinitely, Moana found herself missing a part of who she was through dance.

In the effort to reignite a spark in her, she launched CC Tamure Fitness via Facebook Live. Free live classes for everyone.

In her first live class, she amased over 400+ participants from across the globe. This began the CC Tamure Fitness phenomenon that swept the online world.

When restrictions began to ease, Moana pivotted to Live In-Person Classes. In her first class, she had over 100 participants.

The members who joined the Tamure Fitness  became family and in their own right, were given the title of QUEENS. As Moana and her team of instructors personally hold Dance Champion Titles, she wanted her community to also feel empowered and a sense of inclusivity. “We are all QUEENS. We will all do GREAT THINGS. We will all support and uplift each other no matter what age, size, gender or background. We are all ROYALTY.”

To this day, Tamure Fitness has over 40,000 loyal followers across social media and that number continues to grow as Moana and her team empower Queens ( and Kings ) through dance and fitness.

Moana Taio’s Achievements

2023 Cook Islands People’s Choice Awards (PCA)

“Tamure fitness is a Cook Islands dance fitness class utilizing our Cook Islands culture, dance, choreography, language & music to keep our ladies fit and healthy.

When I started this venture four years ago, my vision was : to create a space where individuals, Women in particular could not only improve their physical fitness, but to also gain confidence in themselves, to keep the culture & language Alive & overall to battle out NCDS here on Rarotonga.

Today, I can confidently say that we have achieved that vision and so much more, but the work continues and will continue immensely.

Our journey began with a simple yet powerful belief – that a healthy body is the foundation of a happy life. Over the past four years, our fitness club has become a hub of positive transformation. We’ve witnessed countless success stories, from individuals shedding excess weight, gaining strength, and boosting their confidence, to those who have overcome health challenges and achieved their fitness goals.

This success is not just about numbers on a scale or personal records. It’s about the sense of community we’ve built, the bonds that have been formed, and the support that our members provide to one another (women empowerment) we call it, also known as our happy place. We’ve created a happy place where people come not just to exercise, but to feel inspired, motivated, and part of something bigger than themselves.

As we reflect on these four years, it’s important to acknowledge the incredible dedication of our members, the hard work of our instructors and, and the never ending support of our community. Looking ahead, the journey continues. Our commitment to promoting health and wellness remains strong as ever. We aim to expand, introduce new fitness programs, encourage more youth to participate also promote and reach even more individuals who are looking to transform their lives. It’s just the beginning. We’ve come a long way, and the road ahead is filled with even more opportunities for growth, success, and impact. I want to express my heartfelt thanks to all of you for being a part of this incredible journey.

Together, we will continue to inspire, motivate, and empower each other on the path to a healthier, happier Cook Islands. Thank you once again for this amazing award and last words of encouragement to all our ladies out there, make a change today”.
